VIDEO INFORMATION UPDATE!!!
TORRENT WILL BE UP ON AUGUST 9TH!!!
I will be posting up the torrent on August 9th at 11 59 pm!!! The folder is 2 gigs and there are 3 files. Format is .mov and it works on my Quicktime 7 Pro for Windows.
The best way to download torrents in my opinion is using Azureus, however, if you think otherwise or have another app please use your own. My suggestion is still Azureus and here are links to the software if you don't have it.
The list of links for regular OSX is HERE.
The one for Jesse and his Intel based OSX is HERE.
The list of links for Windows XP is HERE.
Those who are going to use the torrent please post a comment on the blog to say you are going to get a copy and SEED after you finish downloading. Thanks. I also wish for everybody to enjoy what is left of the summer. ;D)))) <--- a fat guy smiling!
ALSO August 28th at 12:30 P.M. our cubicle will be shown with that so called VJ dude. I honestly don't remember what channel it will be on but think Much Music and you'll find it somehow. Good luck!

The Project
I guess I missed Frankie today for the meeting because I was in the library checking the blog.... but if it was him who had customized the table he did a crazy job. I've been here all day and I've been back and forth from the room and the library. Since I can't stay any longer because I have to tend to family matters and I havent seen any new table lamps of doo dads I'll bring a lamp in tomorrow morning, along with my monitor. And if there is anything else I find interesting I will also those items with me. We should meet at 8:30 in room 166 and at the latest 9:00 am.
The Goods
OK. The goods are located as follows.
Walk south on McCaul, cross Queen, jogging to the left as McCaul turns into Duncan.
Pass 19 Duncan St., just after Adelaine. Take the first left into a lane. Take the next left, and you should see the chair platform and some computer stuff. Good luck. I'd bring three people at least.

Hello from Jesse
Hey all:
Looks like things are going well - some changes, but that was expected. Glad to see lots of you have stepped up with some good ideas.
I just spoke to Wai on the phone, and as per our conversation I'm going to leave some things out for you near my office. I'd drop it off for you tomorrow morning but I'm in a meeting from 8AM-12PM.
-a broken but repairable chair platform
-a keyboard and mouse
-a clock radio
-anything else handy I can find.
Good luck, and see you tomorrow. I can't be by until later during the lunch break, but Mike will see you earlier.

Frankie if you make it, please look at what is there and make a post. Anybody who has extra stuff leave it on top of the desk. We should all meet at OCAD today at 7pm. I'll bring a monitor so we don't have to buy it.

Progress So Far
I think we should all meet at OCAD on Monday at 12 o clock... thats NOON people...
PLEASE when you do come bring the post-it notes... HOPEFULLY finished... and Justin please bring your lamp and drop it off... if anyone has other classes just show up with finished work or just put it in room 166. We can then begin assembling the entire structure and the major decisions can be done then. ALSO, since the camera will be ready to be picked up we can also familiarize ourselves with it and what goes on from there can be played by ear. Now those who do read this please contact the others and point them to the blog... because right now we are short 2 people who said they'd bring something... Ji Eun and Aiditi... we have to do our best with the thought of these 2 people not attending the meeting. Meet in 166 on Monday at 12 pm... if you are first there please just tell the security guard which class you are from and you need access to the room and he or she will let you in. Be prepared to spend a LOT of time there on Monday.
IF ANYONE CAN'T MAKE IT PLEASE POST A COMMENT BEFORE 12 O'CLOCK MONDAY!!!!

The progress of the entire scene is that we got this old cubicle from U of T and it kinda looks like it came from the 70's. It does cover our need for a wall around our desk but its down right ugly. It looks like this from a bird's eye view... well to be as simplistic as possible.
As for the desk Jesse has lent us it fits a work station cubicle theme very nicely. Those are our 2 options as of right now for work spaces... or we can use them both and incorporate some sort of wall. We also have a chair, but it doesn't have any wheels so we can just use the chair and plant it into the grass. Now the choice is whether or not we are going to use the retro desk alone, or in combination with the desk Jesse gave us. We have also asked around and got permission to use some HUGE plastic walls to install outside... but in my opinion it just looks a little TOO large to be used for anything. I think it is in our best interests to at LEAST meet on Monday to discuss where to go from here. Also I choose 2 a. of Frankie's idea.

Park Information UPDATED!
There is no permit or anything required for us to install something like our project in the park! The lady had kindly pointed out to me that as long as the installation DOES not attract more then 20 people at once to a single spot we are fine. If it does that or if we somehow promote this we will need a permit. So as long as we keep it low key until show time we will be fine. =D))))
Meeting In A Supermarket (Part 2)

Story 1
CRAZY ASS ANIMAL JAM!!!! I can't believe SO many people are going to crash at my place!!!! This has become the most EXCITING day of my LIFE!!! I mean even Edwin said that the jam was off the hook... I hope I just have enough crap at home for these moochers to use. I can't believe I had to use so much money to buy all this weird stuff people wanted... I mean food and stuff to clean themselves is fine but I gotta get all that cash for the cigerretes I bought for these freakin retards. Holy cow tonights after party is going to be the shit.
Story 2

Oooo I don't remember what happened last night... I have such a huge hang over... and my mouth taste like an ashtray. Aww man there's meat and bread all over the floor... my body's all slippery and I kind of smell like sunflower oil. So much orange puke all over my kitchen floor. I gotta go brush my teeth but all that tooth paste I bought is all gone... nobody is around but why is there such a huge mess here? All I remember is piling up onto of a bunch of girls and a guy and I think I passed out afterwards... So much syrup is gone I can't help but feel a little violated because my anus feels sore...
Meeting In A Supermarket (Part 1)

Story 1
I can't believe after 10 years of being single I finally scored a date! God I look horrible... I think I should buy something to cover up all this acne... and oh my god what is wrong with my breath?!?! Too many late nights I guess... holy crap my breath smells like monkey feces. OH NO!!! It's only an hour left before I have to go meet my date!!! That's IT I am going to the supermarket to get some cheap stuff to help out... But I don't think have time for it... I REALLY need something to help out... AHH whatever I'm going... I can't kiss with crap breath now can I?
Story 2

I can't believe how homeless people can let themselves go!!! I mean if you're going to present yourself everyday in public you might as well dress up or put on some make up. And that breath! How can they even stand themselves? It is disgusting. I guess being a beautiful blonde really makes a difference in this city... I might as well dress up these ugly people. I mean look at this woman... all dirty and those old clothes... and what's even worse is the fact that she doesn't have any make up on!!!
NOW after all that make up I think she looks much better! She certainly looks a lot happier... but also kind of like a man... maybe I laid the stuff on a little too thick. Oh and that breath... thank goodness I have so many mints on me right now because that breath was completely the opposite of the happiness I was feeling. Now I think everybody in town should do the same and just beautify the city with these funny faced clown people!!! I'm so happy that I contributed so much to this city!!!

Cubicle Life

Hi All:
Congrats on coming up with a project that has great potential. I can't make it tonight, as I've got a conflicting meeting, so I'll see you on Tuesday.
I've worked in several offices in my life, so I thought I'd narrate a character for you, as insipiration for tonight's decision-making.
* * *
Gordon is a short, squat man, with square metal-rimmed glasses and an odd demeanor for an administrative assistant. His desk is small and cluttered, with a window on the right overlooking a lazy campus street. His boss is the Director of Transportation Planning - his boss is also a total nut.
In his spare time, Gordon is a Canadian Armed Forces Reservist, a member of Her Royal Highness' 101st Airborne Rifles. He plays the bagpipes, and is often heard playing them in the adjacent field during his lunch-break. Currently, his pipes are hanging on a hook beside the window, though they'd normally go back in their case - the UV rays might damage them, you know.
Top drawer: pencils, pens, erasers. Post-its. Stapler. Paper clips. Organized neatly in a yellow tray. In the back, his wallet and keys, safe from thieves. And a stack of photos from a trip to Tofino last summer that he keeps forgetting to bring home. It was a great trip, though it rained 3 days out of 4.
This summer, he's going to Atlanta for his week's summer vacation to attend an international reservist's conference, where he'll play his pipes in the honour guard at the opening ceremonies. A neatly stacked pile of attendee's information can be found in the upper left corner of his desk, tucked behind the flat-screen monitor, a monitor he's fortunate to have, most others in the office don't, but his old CRT crapped out last week so he was first in line. Turning it on and off constantly for three hours one morning may or may not have aided its demise.
Second drawer: paper, dividers, empty files. Behind: labels, and those little plastic things that clip onto files. More paper clips. A film cannister. Wonder what's in it.
Third drawer: current projects, again neatly labelled. Gordon is a fastidious man, albeit slow at times. Projects include distributing employee bus passes; taking registrations for this year's Canadian Urban Transportation Association conference, to be held at UBC this fall; sorting through promotional material collected from bus-pass programs throughout North America; dealing with payroll and expense accounts for the 10 temporary and 4 permanent employees in the office, and sitting on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee for CUPE 3204.
On the desk, the aforementioned screen, and a computer at his feet. A back pad lines the chair, a futile attempt at mitigating back pain caused more by Gordon's expanding waistline than any poor ergonomics. Actually, his station is impeccably set up, according to his Committee's paraphanalia on work-station ergonomics. He's practically a poster child for it. He's got a foot rest, a properly set-up ergonomic chair, a wrist pad and a screen at a proper distance.
Also on the desk are dozens of post-it notes, Gordon's only organizational vice. Phone numbers, addresses, lunch dates long past. Four line one edge of his computer screen, with obscure keyboard short-cuts written on them. He's trying to learn them all. A photo of him, with his parents, ten years prior, is taped to the other edge. His father died last year. He's single, unmarried. A framed 5x7 of his Rifle Company in full dress regalia marching in a Rememberance Day parade is his only formal decoration, his pride and joy, along with a clip-framed Certificate of Acheivement from the military. His Microsoft certificates are pinned to the wall above, four in all. He favours Fineliner pens, and never leaves the house without his Weekender socks - there's a spare pair at the back of the bottom drawer for emergencies. A 38 year-old single man has to be prepared, you know.

Project 3 - Urban Interaction
These are the tasks which should be met as soon as possible for the final project. For the people who were present you guys may skip the rest of this section of the post and proceed to the list of things to do. For the people who weren't present, everyone has decided on a project about a completely furnished office cubicle with a filing cabinet, personalized by a character we shall create, that will be placed in a park for an afternoon. Essentially we will be observing the interaction that takes place between by-passers and the cubicle. The cubicle will have items that the user could interact with during the afternoon. More detailed information will be filled in when you get to class on Thursday. Below is a list the class had created during class.
This list should be carefully read and the tasks be performed A.S.A.P..
The List Of Things To Do:
Current Amount: $90 (Set aside addtional $20 for gas)
Everyone [a]= Buying with budget
Everyone [b] = Bring in
- $20 should be handed to Emily (who will handle the budget) in class on Thursday, July 20th, 2006.
- Maybe ask for volunteers to help move the things we acquire for the project.
- Create a narrative for the character
- What s/he does for work, family life, social life, etc..
- Be prepared to play an Exquisite Corpse type game with your ideas.
- Please look for the following materials:
- cubicle (Justin or whoever)
- file cabinet (Justin or Wai)
- desks (Justin or Jesse)
- chairs (Someone "steal" one and post a comment)
- plastic desk floor cover or carpet or both (Justin or whoever)
- postcards (Everyone [b])
- post-it notes (Michael Erdmann)
- folders (Everyone [a])
- envelopes (Everyone [a][b])
- paper (lined and blank) (Everyone [a][b])
- telephones (Wai)
- pictures (Everyone upload something to the blog)
- lamps (Justin or Emily)
- coffee maker (Ji Eun)
- things to drink with...
- cups (Everyone [b])
- mugs (Everyone [b])
- empty liquor bottles (Emily)
- typing equipment
- laptop (we got it from someone shady? crappy battery >=E) $30
There is also the problem of powering some items like the telephone and the computer. We would need an external power source and if anyone has a backup battery that would be awesome. If anyone with enough knowledge of making a phone ring without an actual connection or knows someone who does please post a reply on the blog.
And about everyone's role in the project... I guess the people who weren't here tonight will have to find out on Thursday... I believe that is all there is to post, however, please post additional information as needed. Good night. =D)))))))))))
